Fall Clean-Up Services

They call it the Fall Season for a reason; because all the leaves fall out of the trees and make a huge mess! This is also the time of year where the lush green plants start to change colors and prepare themselves for the harsh conditions of winter. While most people will just let all the leaves pile up and get covered in snow, others will take care to prepare their yard for winter and therefore end up with a much nicer yard in the Spring. If you want to protect your plants and give your yard a headstart for the Spring season, you’re in the right place.

  • Composting leaves and pine needles
  • Trimming hedges
  • Cutting grass
  • Mulching
  • Fertilizing your plants and lawn

Lawn Aeration

The compacted soil and the buildup of lawn thatch make it hard for your lawn to breathe. Lawn aeration can be described as a process of poking holes in your lawn that helps your lawn and soil under it to get more air. It’s also very important to remove as much of lawn that is possible by raking deeply. This process is best done in the fall so the lawn has a head start for the spring. Lawn aeration also helps by breaking up the compacted soil which allows the water and the fertilizer to reach the root zone. This is why the lawn area where a lot of people walk on requires frequent lawn aeration. Ever wonder why the grass tends to die where people walk? This is part of it.

Benefits of lawn aeration:

  • Reduces soil compaction.
  • Helps water, fertilizer and air access the soil.
  • Encourages root development.
  • Helps your lawn deal with drought and disease.
  • Improves the health of your lawn.

Lawn Seeding

At Chiles Enterprises we use the best, most eco-friendly seeds available. Our technicians are all certified and trained to understand the intricacies of turf care so we really know what we’re talking about. Each climate and region requires a special seed to produce the healthiest and most vibrant looking yard that can stand up to the harsh climates of the Northern Hemisphere.

Seeding your lawn in the fall will set your yard up for an amazing Spring and Summer. First, we must clean up the debris and fertilize the ground. Grass seeds require a lot of nutrients so they can grow quickly and get nice and tough before the snowfalls. We’re running out of time to seed so if you’re considering it, let’s get it going!

Lawn Fertilizing

Lawn fertilizer will provide the nutrition your lawn needs to become green and vibrant throughout the whole year. All plants require fertilization in order to be strong and healthy. Trees for example require fertilization, especially if they are newly planted so that they can fight pests and drought more efficiently. Fertilization helps your lawn retain water more efficiently and by making your grass strong, it helps with weed control as well.

Putting down fertilizer a few weeks before the ground freezes will give your grass the boost it needs to grow deeper roots and withstand the harsh temperatures. When Spring comes, it will have a massive headstart towards being green and vibrant.

Topsoil

The natural topsoil produced by nature is actually more mineral-dense than a lot of the topsoils you can buy in the store. There are two types of topsoil you can buy:

  • Blended topsoil: a mixture of mineral material and organic matter
  • Organic topsoil: shredded wood and moss
If the topsoil in your yard or garden is damaged or low in nutrients, it will need to be replaced with high-quality soil. At Chiles Enterprises, we only use carefully chosen topsoil to add to your yard and garden in order to get the best results possible. We will till the ground before adding to the soil to make it easier for roots to penetrate the ground and soak up the water and nutrients.

Landscape Grading/Leveling

Most residential lots are not properly leveled because they need to be slightly sloped downward so that the ground moisture can run away from your home, garage, or driveway. This is the exact reason why most residential concrete cracks over time. The moisture collects next to the foundation of the structure and expands/contracts when it freezes and thaws, causing the concrete to soften and crack.

Property leveling includes filling up the holes in the ground (for example if your landscaping features have been removed). It helps level the soil so that it doesn’t contain too much moisture only on specific areas, helps your landscaping features remain leveled and stay in the straight line and it provides many other additional benefits.

Hydroseeding

Have you ever driven by a chunk of dirt that looks like it was spray-painted bright green? This is hydroseeding. The green you see is a dye that is added so it’s easy to see where the seeds have been sprayed.

The benefit of hydroseeding is that the grass will grow extremely fast. The properties of hydroseed allow it to hold up to 10 times its own weight in water. There are also concentrated nutrients and stimulants added to the liquid spray that allows the seeds to take root before they get washed away.

If you want to get some grass on some dirt in a hurry, hydroseeding is the best way to go!
